The founders of Farrell, Patel, Jomarron & Lopez became attorneys because they wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. One of the ways they do this is through the legal system, fighting to provide justice to those who have been harmed. They also provide valuable assistance outside of their roles as attorneys by staying involved with charities and organizations committed to helping families in times of need. Since 2010, over $2,000,000.00 has been donated to charities thanks to the help of Farrell, Patel, Jomarron & Lopez. Here are some of the organizations the firm proudly supports:

  • Nicklaus Children’s Hospital – Senior Partner Ricky Patel is the vice chairman for the hospital foundation. He was also the co-founder of the Miami Children’s young ambassadors. Over the past seven years, he has personally donated and pledged over $1,400,000.00.

In addition to the donations, he spends over 250 hours a year volunteering with the hospital and fundraising efforts.

  • Put Something Back – Since 1995, Senior Partner Mario Lopez has provided pro bono work through the “put something back” of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida, and the school and professionalism committees of the Dade County Bar Association.
  • Habitat for Humanity – Since 2009, Ricky Patel has logged over 100 hours of service with Habitat for Humanity, assisting with the building and furnishing of homes for families in need.
  • VAWA – (Violence Against Women’s Act) Attorney Patel has provided over 500 hours to helping women who suffered from abuse that were in need of immigration help, as well as other asylum seekers.
  • Haitian Orphanage – Since Hurricane Mathew struck the island of Haiti, thousands of children were left without parents. Attorney Ricky Patel decided to help start an orphanage for 40 children in Gressier Haiti. He has raised and donated over $200,000.00 in supplies and cash to help provide a house, schooling, staff, and other necessities for the children. He currently visits the orphanage every 3 months to provide additional supplies and support.
  • Florida Bar Ethics Committee: Mario Lopez dedicated his time to serve as a member of the Florida Bar Ethics Committee for the 11th Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County and was Chairman of his committee when his term ended in 2015.
  • Fashion Gives Back – In 2011, Ricky Patel & Wes Farrell created an event called fashion gives back to raise funds for the Nicklaus Children’s hospital. During 2011 they had 35 people attend and raised approximately $3000. Since then, the event has turned into a spectacular event featuring Ricky Patel as Co-chair and raising over $100,000.00 every year with audience in excess of 450 people.
  • Puerto Rico Relief – Ricky Patel & Wes Farrell believed it was important to help give back to the island after Hurricane Maria devastated it. Since the hurricane, they have raised over $65,000.00 and personally donated over $25,000.00 to help provide food, shelter, clothing and supplies to the people who were left without shelter, water or power.
  • St. Thomas University, School of Law – Attorney Ricky Patel has served on the board of trustees for the law school since 2009. He has also made a signature donation resulting in the law school walk way being named after him. In addition, the firm has donated to the general fund for the betterment of the Law School since 2009.
  • Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) – This prestigious group is the largest hotel organization in the world, comprised of more than 20,000 hotel owners. In addition to helping hotel owners recover financially after the BP oil spill ruined the coast and hurt many businesses along the coast, the firm has assisted with the AAHOA Platinum Founding Sponsorship ($50,000.00) and the AAHOA DC Legislative Sponsorship, PAC funds, Life time Memberships for the partners, in addition to sponsoring many other events for the organization.
