Octavio A. Mella is an associate in the Miami office of Farrell, Patel, Jomarron, & Lopez. His practice focuses on complex residential and commercial first-party insurance matters. Among his clients, Mr. Mella represents multiple large condominium associations throughout South Florida handling their insurance claims from their pre-suit stages through to litigation. His experience provides him with a unique perspective with the intricacy of larger insurance claims including engineering, glazing and contractors’ reports.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mella was an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office where he investigated and prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to life felonies. Mr. Mella has experience with over twenty trials and numerous motion practice experience.
Mr. Mella earned his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University School of Law. While attending George Washington, he was a member of the trial advocacy team representing the school in national competitions. Mr. Mella also clerked for the Homeland Security Investigations Law Division of the United States Department of Homeland Security.
